Happy New Year, Let it Snow and How about a coupon to brighten these gray winter days?

Happy New Year! It's been cold and gray in middle Tennessee. Our snow is measured in dustings and tenths, but it has been dreary. Aunt Sister and I try to stay busy with new listings and weekly trips to our latest fav thrifting spot: "the digger". It seems we keep breaking our record each time we go, spending longer digging through the bins and piling our cart higher with treasures. We try not to leave now till we get 50 pounds or more so that our price per pound,"drops" to the lowest, best price available at the digger.

I think that looks like about 50 pounds worth!

Our purchases are all over the place from Christmas to Easter to Halloween decorations, books, suitcases and other bags, board and card games, wall art, chalkboards, crutches, dog and kid toys, baby items, stitchery kits, even pool cue chalk. We never know what we'll find and well, that's a good part of the fun! Aunt Sister feels satisfied that we've taken full advantage of a bin when we dig to the bottom of the bin and that's often where we find the best treasures!

The last few weeks have been busy ones.   We held another baby shower for our daughter-in-law who is due the end of this month.  Our other daughter-in-law is still hanging in there, although she is showing signs of "delivering any day now".   In connection with Hunger Action Month and No Kid Hungry, we all brought cans of tuna and jars of peanut butter to our latest baby shower, in honor of our grandchild and to help those in our community who struggle with hunger.  We took our donation to the local food bank last week and a volunteer that was there told us this week that without our donation there would not have been enough food for last week's giveaway.   It's not often that you get to hear the result of your donation and we were glad to hear that our donation was helpful.  We encourage you and your friends and family to collect food for your local food pantry at your next baby shower, birthday party or other family gathering.  It was a great addition to our party and we are already thinking about collecting food at our next family gathering.

We have also spent several busy hours painting furniture and gathering and tagging items for the Handmade Harvest Festival in Bethpage, TN, held this past weekend.  We pulled together an eclectic mix of games, toys, suitcases, framed needlecraft, baby items, Smurfs, Garfield, Alf, Bernstein Bears plush toys, puzzles, kitchen ware, metal furniture, brass knick knacks, handmade coasters by our own Uncle Brother, in addition to his welded statues and his tailgate benches.

In between we have hit a few sales and continue to run in and out of our favorite thrift stores.  We hope you enjoy these photos from our adventures at Handmade Harvest Festival.  If you want to see more photos of the Festival, check us out on instagram at auntsisterspicks.

Our next coupon is available now through next Sunday, October 12th. Just put in KEEPITGOING2014 to get 20% off your purchase.

Also, please check out our daughters' shops at:   www.etsy.com/shop/HalfSkyCovered and www.etsy.com/shop/JackandJillTreats AND www.etsy.com/shop/QueSuertyPY for new listings and/or their coupons.

Thank you, as always, for your continued interest in AuntSistersPicks.  We enjoy your comments, your questions and your reviews, as well as your "favorites" and your purchases.

Keep on picking!  Aunt Sisters Deb and Cindy

It’s a…BOY and a…GIRL….Beach Time and more

In the past week we have learned the sex of our grandbabies due in October..Aunt Sister Cindy's son and daughter in law are having a boy and Aunt Sister Deb's son and daughter in law are having a girl!   Both are due in October.  Add to that our participation in the Handmade Harvest Festival in Bethpage, TN and it's going to be a busy month!

In addition, Aunt Sister and I have been taking an Etsy seller seminar and have learned and put into effect a few new things in our shop and in our social media connections.    Now, besides our accounts on instagram: auntsisterspicks, and Twitter:  AuntSisterCindy and AuntSisterDeb, we also have an account on pinterest:  AuntSistersPick (we had to leave off the s as it was too many characters).   We have also rewritten our story and about sections and these "new" additions will soon appear in our shop.

We always invite you to look at our daughter's shop:  www.etsy.com/shop/HalfSkyCovered

We would now like to invite you to look at another daughter's shop, just opened this week, at:  www.etsy.com/shop/QueSuertePY

Finally, Aunt Sister Cindy is taking the next two weeks off at the beach in South Carolina for much needed R & R.   What that means to you is that Aunt Sister Deb will be holding down the fort and continuing to ship linens, BUT other items will NOT be shipped until Monday June 30th.  We thank you in advance for your patience.

Happy thrifting!
